    Job Summary:

    The Assistant Corps Director is a vital role within our organization, responsible for coordinating and managing the operational aspects of the drum corps, particularly focusing on staff coordination, logistics, and administrative duties. This individual will work closely with the Corps Director and caption heads to ensure that all staff-related activities run smoothly, from budgeting and scheduling to transportation and documentation. The Assistant Corps Director will also support various other tasks as needed to contribute to the overall success of the corps.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Staff Coordination & Support:

      • Assist in creating and maintaining the staff schedule, coordinating availability and coverage for rehearsals, performances, and tours.

      • Facilitate clear communication among staff members, acting as a liaison between the Corps Director and the staff team.

    • Logistics & Transportation:

      • Oversee transportation arrangements for staff members, ensuring that travel plans are organized and executed efficiently.

      • Manage logistics for staff housing and accommodations during the season, including booking, check-ins, and problem resolution.

      • Coordinate the transportation of equipment and materials, ensuring timely and safe delivery to all locations.

    • Administrative Duties:

      • Ensure all staff documentation is up to date and accurate, including contracts, background checks, and certifications.

      • Maintain detailed records of staff attendance, performance, and any other relevant metrics.

      • Assist in managing payroll and expense reporting for staff members.

      • Work closely with the Personnel Manager to ensure all required information is collected from members/volunteers/staff, including contact information, payments, SafeSport certifications, and more.

    • Additional Responsibilities:

      • Provide support in planning and executing events, camps, and performances.

      • Assist with other tasks as directed by the Corps Director to ensure the smooth operation of the corps.

      • Act as a point of contact for staff concerns, escalating issues to the Corps Director as necessary.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven experience in management, logistics, or a related field, preferably within a drum corps or performing arts environment.

    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals.

    • Proficient in budgeting, scheduling, and basic financial management.

    • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

    • Familiarity with drum corps operations and culture is highly desirable.

    • Availability to travel with the corps and work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, during the season.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in a leadership role within a drum corps or similar organization.

    • Knowledge of staff documentation requirements, including contracts, certifications, and legal compliance.

    • Competency with office software, including spreadsheets, databases, and communication tools.

    Work Environment:

    • This role requires flexibility and adaptability, with significant travel during the drum corps season.

    • The Assistant Corps Director must be able to work in a high-pressure environment, managing multiple responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail.
