Jeffrey Capponi

Color Guard Caption Head

Jeffrey Capponi began his pageantry career in 2004 at Century High School in Portland, Oregon and through the years performed with Oregon Crusaders, Cascades, The Madison Scouts, The Blue Devils, North by Northwest Winter guard and Oregon Crusaders Indoor percussion.

Jeffrey has worked with numerous high school Color guards, marching bands and drum corps which include Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps, BOA and WGI Finalist O’Fallon Township HS, WGI Finalist Dartmouth HS, WGI Finalist Friendswood HS, WGI Finalist Oregon Crusaders Independent (Director and Designer), Juxtaposition Independent Winter Guard, Lux Independent Winter guard and has been the Color Guard Director and Designer for Maui High School since 2017.

Jeffrey currently resides in Eagle, Idaho as a full time designer and choreographer for programs throughout the United States. Outside of the activity you can usually catch Jeffrey traveling, playing with his gorgeous pup Georgia or supporting his local wineries and breweries.

Ja'Mahl Wallace

Color Guard Technician

Ja'Malh Wallace currently resides in Dayton, Ohio, Ja'Malh has been a performer and educator for over 15 years. His background includes theater, voice, dance, improvisation, and the marching arts.

As a marching arts entertainer, Ja'Malh has performed with Onyx (World), beginning in 2008, then returning to the group for the 2012-2016 seasons, and the 2018-2021 seasons. This coming season will mark his 11th year as a cast member, 4th year as a captain, and 4th year as a marching staff member with this premier organization.

As marching arts instructor and choreographer, Ja'Malh has had the privilege to work with groups in Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Texas, Indiana, and Wisconsin. He is the current Guard Director at Carroll High School in Dayton, OH and a movement designer at Northmont High School.

Allison Petro

Color Guard Technician

Allison Petro is originally from Plainfield, IL where she began her color guard career at Plainfield North High School. After performing in each of her eligible marching band seasons with the Marching Tigers and winter seasons with Plainfield Winter Guard from 2011 – 2015, Allison went on to perform with Carolina Crown from 2015 – 2018, serving as color guard captain in 2017 and 2018.

After graduating high school and moving to Ohio, Allison continued her winter guard career with Juxtaposition in 2016, and Onyx in 2017 and 2018. She will be returning to the floor with Onyx in 2022.

Allison has taught and choreographed for multiple schools and organizations during and following her performing years. She has worked closely with groups in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Texas, and California.

Currently residing in Centerville, OH, Allison works as a staff member for Centerville High School and Onyx. Allison is a graduate from The Ohio State University with a B.S in Public Health. She has a full time job as a Health Promotions Specialist at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

When she has free time, Allison enjoys exercising, traveling, and spending time with people who bring light to her life. Allison is extremely excited to be back with the Mandarins this summer, and is looking forward to sharing her love and passion for this activity with those around her.

Anna Smith

Color Guard Technician

Anna is from Park Hills, Kentucky. She moved to Dayton, Ohio in the fall of 2021 to study Music Therapy at The University of Dayton. Anna began her color guard career at Dixie Heights in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky.

After graduating, Anna marched with O2 from 2012 - 2014, Phantom Regiment in 2014, and Onyx World 2015, 2016, 2020, and 2021. Anna has been able to teach a number of programs: Dixie Heights, Campbell County, Northmont, Onyx A, Onyx World, and in the summer of 2021, The Mandarins.

Outside of color guard, Anna likes to spend time with her family and boyfriend, travel, see live shows from the best band, “Brother Smith”, and devote quality time to her physical and mental health. Anna is “two dry scoops of pre-workout” ready to start this next chapter with The Mandarins. #OTK

kate Swift

Color Guard Technician

Kate Swift began her color guard career 20 years ago with the Miamisburg Color Guards and continued through their programs until graduating in 2012. She then joined Onyx in 2013 and has been involved in their projects either as a performer or staff member ever since.

Kate has worked with great programs including Hilliard Bradley HS, Fairborn HS, Greenon HS , Northmont HS, William Mason HS, Onyx A, Onyx Open, Onyx World, as well as the Sacramento Mandarins. Originally from Missouri, Kate now resides in Dayton, Ohio.

Brian Davis

Color Guard Technician

Brian Davis was born in Dayton, OH, but spent most of his life growing up in Northern Virginia.

Brian began his color guard career in the fall of 2004, his senior year at Herndon High School. He began his teaching career by joining the Herndon High School color guard staff the year after he graduated. After spending a few years teaching at Herndon High, and spinning with a local independent color guard called Act 1, he decided to move to Kentucky to pursue new opportunities teaching and spinning. After two years in Kentucky, Brian moved to Dayton, Ohio.

Brian has had the pleasure to spin with some remarkable organizations such as Act 1 2006-2008, Pride of Cincinnati 2013, and Onyx 2009-2012, 2014-2016. He has also worked on staff with fantastic organizations such as Herndon High School, Mason County High School, Bourbon County High School, Northmont High School, Miamisburg High School, Bellbrook High School, William Mason High School, South Shore Drill Team, George Mason University, O2, Onyx, and the Sacramento Mandarins.

Jaycee Wilson

Color Guard Technician

Jaycee Wilson began his marching arts career in Clovis, California in 2001, and since then has performed with Clovis High School, Rhapsody Independent, Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps, and Imbue Winter guard.

Recently, Jaycee was the Color Guard Caption Head and Color Guard Designer for The Blue Knights Drum & Bugle corps from 2019-2020, and the Assistant Color Guard Caption Head at Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps from 2014-2017. Jaycee also designed and instructed for Imbue Winter guard from 2010-2020.

Currently, Jaycee resides in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he designs and instructs for American Fork High School and Wasatch Independent.

Gwyneth Quitorio

Color Guard Technician

Gwyneth Quitorio is from Fresno, CA and is a 2021 graduate from Fresno State university with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Child and Family Science.

Gwyneth’s performance career began in 2011 at Kastner Intermediate. She then moved on to perform with the Clovis West High School Marching Band and Open Class winter guard in 2013 and continued until she graduated in 2017. After high school, Gwyneth went on to perform with Frenté Winter guard for 2018-2019. She began performing with the Mandarins in 2017, including 2018, where the organization made World Class Finals for the first time in corps history, and she just recently aged out during the 2021 season.

While in high school, Gwyneth taught Clovis West High School’s A Class winter guard in 2017. After graduating, she began teaching at Buchanan High School in Clovis, CA as a color guard instructor in 2017, where she currently teaches today.

This will be Gwyneth’s first year teaching for the Mandarins and is very excited to stay with her home organization on staff!

Michael Espinoza

Color Guard Technician

Michael’s pageantry career began in 2013 with the South East High School Marching Band and Winter guard. After graduating in 2017, Michael went on to perform with Vessel Drum and Bugle Corps in 2018.

Michael began performing with the Mandarins in 2019, 2020 remotely, and just recently aged out with the organization in 2021. Besides Drum Corps, Michael also performed with Diamanté Independent World for the 2020 season. After graduating from his high school, Michael returned and taught for the 2018-19 season.

Michael is grateful to continue his involvement with the Mandarins. He currently resides in Los Angeles, CA and is attending California State University Los Angeles to obtain a B.A. in Psychology.

Conner Adams

Color Guard Technician

Conner Adams is a first-year staff member with the Mandarins Colorguard. Conner has been a performer in the activity since 2012 and has since performed with programs such as Carolina Crown, The Boston Crusaders, and Paramount Winterguard.

Conner has worked with numerous scholastic and independent programs throughout the country and is the current Colorguard Director at Tomball HS in the Houston, TX area. He is very excited to join The Mandarins color guard staff and is eager to help forward the success of the program.

Taylor Hartman

Color Guard Technician

Taylor Hartman began her color guard career in 2013 at Orchard Park High School. Taylor has performed with the Quaker marching band, the Marching band of Pirates in Bradenton Florida, Braden River’s varsity color guard, Horizon independent winter guard, and the Boston Crusaders in 2018 and 2019, and was contracted in 2020 before the pandemic. She was a color guard technician for Lakewood Ranch high school in 2018 at the age of 17 and became the director in 2019 at the age of 18.

Taylor now lives in Fort Myers, Florida attending Florida Gulf Coast University and is pursuing a Bachelors in Resort and Hospitality Management with a minor in psychology. One of her favorite activities outside of color guard is attending car shows with her Dodge Challenger.
