Anthony Gilleland is a performer, educator, designer, and clinician based in Northern Kentucky, with extensive experience in the marching arts across the United States. He currently serves as the Front Ensemble Director at Ryle High School in Union, Kentucky, where he teaches percussion methods, private lessons, and ensembles for both the marching band and indoor percussion programs. In addition to his work in education, Anthony designs, arranges, and consults for ensembles throughout the Tri-State region, with a focus on front ensemble pedagogy, percussion arranging, and audio system design/consulting
Anthony began his drum corps teaching as a consultant at Pacific Crest in 2019, later joining the Carolina Crown percussion staff, where he taught from 2019 to 2022. He then moved to The Cadets in 2023 where he was the Front Ensemble Coordinator and Orchestrator, and The Blue Stars in 2024 as a Front Ensemble tech. This will be Anthony’s second year on staff with The Mandarins, his first being in 2025 as a Front Ensemble tech.
Anthony has also worked with notable Indoor Percussion ensembles across the United States. Starting with Pulse 2018-2020, he then consulted with George Mason University in 2022 as well as helped with design in 2023. He was a consultant with MBI in 2024-2025 and on the design team for 2026.
Anthony earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Percussion Performance from California State University, Fullerton, where he studied under Ken McGrath, Rob Slack, and Todd Miller. As an active educator, performer, and advocate for percussion, Anthony is proud to represent Vic Firth, Zildjian, and Remo as an Educational Artist.
