Carol Abohatab

Drum Corps

Color Guard

Movement Clinician

Carol Abohatab brings over four decades of performing, teaching, and choreographing to the Color Guard and Drum Corps arena, training and choreographing for the Santa Clara Vanguard Winter Guard for its 11-year tenure, as well as Bluecoats Indoor, San Jose Raiders World Guard, Emerald Marquis, and State Street Review. She’s also had the privilege to work with many other color guards, some of which include Northview, Arcadia, Mission Viejo, Chino, Leigh, and Miamisburg High Schools, Pride of Cincinnati, Paramount, and, since 2017, with Fantasia.

The Pageantry Arts prompted her to further explore dance, earning a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Performance, Choreography, and Kinesiology. Along with choreographing, Carol has also continually sought to implement sound technical dance programs, teaching from anatomical, as well as genuine performance driven viewpoints. To this means, she also formed the Vanguard Dance Company (1998 – 2008), which allowed aspiring Dancers from the pageantry arts to dance side by side with professional Dancers from the community.

Carol currently teaches Jazz, Hip Hop, Repertory, Yoga and Pilates at San José City College. She is a RYT200 Certified Yoga Instructor, currently working toward 500 hours. Her interests lay in improvisation as a path to authentic performance, finding fun in meditations, and Hip Hop/Yoga fusion! Carol served on the WGI Steering Committee from 2009 to 2023, and has published a dance training video set available on wgi.org.
