Sheree Meyer was born in Rochester, New York where she had the opportunity to perform in choirs and musicals throughout her childhood. She received her BA in English from Stony Brook University and her MA and Ph.D. from Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. She moved with her family to Sacramento for a tenure-track position in English at Sacramento State; during her tenure at Sac State, she has also served as department chair, Dean of Undergraduate Studies, and Dean of the College of Arts & Letters.
A lover of all visual and performing arts, Sheree is committed to advocating for and supporting the arts and humanities and to building strong and diverse educational pipelines. She is also a voracious reader of all kinds of literature. She’s been married to her musician husband, David, for nearly 50 years, has two grown sons, two daughters-in-
law, and a very special granddaughter.
