Matt Hixenbaugh is from Dayton, Ohio and has had a passion for music from a very young age. He was an inaugural member of the Rhythm X Winds ensemble as a trumpet player in 2015, and continued to perform in the group for the entirety of its existence (2015-2020). In 2018, he aged out with the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps on trumpet. Matt has continued his musicianship outside of the marching arts and loves creating Christmas albums with his friends.
Matt has worked with many groups in the area during the fall and winter seasons, teaching music and visual, writing choreography, producing shows, arranging music, and consulting. At the High School level, he is most involved with Beavercreek HS and Centerville HS. In 2019, Matt taught the brass at the Crossmen, and has been on the visual staff at the Cavaliers since 2025. In 2020, Matt joined the visual team at Cap City Percussion, where he was the Cap City 2 Visual Coordinator from 2021-2023 and a Cap City World Visual Coordinator in 2024. For the 2025 WGI season, Matt joined the visual staff at Rhythm X and is excited for his third year with the organization.
Outside of music, Matt is extremely interested in physics, mathematics, and computer science. He does contract work in data science, and is planning to attend graduate school for physics.
Matt is enthusiastic about the 2027 Mandarins season, and is looking forward to working alongside an incredible team!
