Introducing the Mandarins Parade Corps

Mandarins Performing Arts is excited to announce the launch of the Mandarins Parade Corps, a new program giving young performers ages 11–17 the opportunity to build confidence, develop their performance skills, and experience the excitement of performing throughout the Sacramento region.
Featuring percussion and color guard, the Mandarins Parade Corps is designed to welcome performers of all experience levels. No prior performance experience is necessary. Our instructional staff will help members learn the fundamentals, grow as performers, and become part of the Mandarins performing arts community.
Members will rehearse at the Mandarins Event Center in Sacramento, with instruments and equipment provided by the organization. The Parade Corps will prepare performers for appearances at community events and parades throughout the Sacramento region while providing an accessible introduction to the performing arts.
Meet the Director: Vince Hjerpe
The Mandarins Parade Corps will be led by Vince Hjerpe (Mr. H), a longtime percussion educator and performer with more than 20 years of experience in the drumline activity.
A graduate of Bella Vista High School, Hjerpe performed as a snare drummer with the Mandarins in 2006 before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He went on to perform with “The Commandant’s Own,” The United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, through 2012.
His performance experience also includes the Philadelphia Eagles Drumline and Sacramento Kings Drumline. Hjerpe holds a bachelor's degree in music education from Sacramento State and currently teaches full-time with Lodi Unified School District while completing his master's degree in education.
