Mandarins Winter Guard

 

The Sacramento Mandarins have a long history with winter color guard, dating back to the organization’s early years. The guard joined the California Color Guard Circuit in 1965, hosted its first indoor color guard competition in 1969, and later returned to winter guard competition in 1978. By 1980, the Mandarins earned national recognition with a Top 10 WGI placement, followed by continued success in the California Color Guard Circuit and WGI through the 1980s and 1990s, including Independent Open finalist placements in 1994 and 1995. 

History

  • 1965 - ​Ye Wah Color Guard accepted for California Color Guard Circuit membership

  • 1973 - California Color Guard Circuit Class A Champions

  • 1980 - Color Guard competes in the Winter Guard Olympics in Cape Cod, MA 

  • 1981 - California Color Guard Circuit co-champions

  • 1988 - Tangerines Prep Guard formed

  • 1994 - WGI Independent Open Winter Guard - 5th place finish.​

  • 1995 - WGI Independent Open Winter Guard - 6th place finish.​
